If you are able to send support to the victims of hurricane Sandy, there are several ways you can do it. ABC news.com has compiled a list of organizations providing charitable support to the recovery efforts. Here is a brief list of several of the main organizations involved in providing shelter, supplies, hot meals, blood and other forms of assistance.
The Red Cross: The Red Cross provides hot meals, emergency shelter and other types of assistance to disaster victims around the world. You can donate by visiting www.redcross.org or by sending an instantaneous donation of $10 by texting “Redcross” to 90999. You can also call them directly at 1-800–Red Cross (1-800-733-2767).
Salvation Army: The Salvation Army will also provide shelter and food to hurricane victims and support workers. You can donate money by visiting www.salvationarmyusa.org.
World Vision: World Vision is providing disaster cleanup kits, personal hygiene items and emergency food. Visit www.worldvision.org to donate.
